Upscale restaurant with excellent cuisine. A gastronomic pearl in southern Thuringia! Regularly fully booked, so reservation is essential. Currently due to Corona is only served in the large hall. But it is very tastefully decorated and has space for about 25 guests. Starters, main course and dessert were first class. Service excellent.

Very nice ambience. Very friendly staff. Owner-run restaurant with a changing seasonal menu. This is something for gourmets. Top class instead of mass. Reservation required on weekends. Price / offer: Very good. Larger events are also possible thanks to the larger space.

Enjoyed BBQ evening with partner. Great location, excellent food and the old-school service, really very sensitive and very high-quality service with appropriate drink advice. Only the parking spaces are rare and small. But there are enough opportunities in the vicinity up to about 500m One of the best restaurants within 50km!

Without reserving a table and in dirty bike clothes we were welcomed in a super friendly way. Such a great service and a nice way you probably have to search for a long time. The food was also an absolute dream, taste and optics just perfect. Thank you for the lovely evening. We will be back definitely !

The food was delicious and really upscale for the region and something different. But even if the food wasn't that good, we'd come back just for the service. We felt like we were in a 3 star restaurant. No, actually even better, because the friendliness was not played. Clear recommendation here you can not go out disappointed!

Fantastic food, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. My new favorite restaurant near Suhl. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and the food is certainly worth the higher than usual prices in the area. Here quality is more important than quantity.

Finally we fulfilled a long cherished wish and reserved a table in the "Waidmannsruh". Why? Because I've been passing by often and the exterior design and a glance through the windows made you want more. A look at the website and the (always changing, pleasingly small) menu reinforced the positive impression. We were received in the tastefully and without unnecessary bells and whistles furnished restaurant very friendly from the very attentive service. Here you can tell that the house is family run and value is placed on a good atmosphere. Although we were there on a Wednesday, almost all the tables were occupied, also a sign of quality. We chose grilled scallops with potato cubes, spinach and bacon and a small portion of tagliatelle with summer truffles and strips of beef filet as an appetizer. Both were excellently prepared and tasted perfect. The main course (once deer stew with home-made gnocchi and once beef fillet steak on port wine sauce, creamy savoy cabbage and potato froth) was in no way inferior to the starter. The meat was perfectly cooked and absolutely tender, the side dishes absolutely delicious. All the components on the plate harmonized perfectly with each other. Even though we were already full, we did not miss to try the desserts (once Sandorn Cremé Brûleè and on the other hand the Japanese quark cake menu with Portion figs and pistachio ice cream). Here we were particularly pleased, a light quark cake in combination with the already almost Christmas tune Portweinfeigen and refreshing the excellent pistachio ice cream, a dream. We find the concept of offering regional cuisine with the special something of fresh ingredients very praiseworthy. The fact that the owners returned to their home country after various career stops all over the world, we find courageous, but in any case very enriching for the region. For us the "Waidmannsruh" is the best restaurant far and wide. Everything is just right here. We will be back definitely

A small restaurant with a breathtaking meal. Nothing works without pre-ordering and that's a good thing. The staff is as friendly as if you belong to the family. The cook, who is also the owner, is a real master of his trade who is also at the stove. It's worth a visit. They also have an excellent wine and whiskey selection. The nice thing is, there is no standard menu and each time there were two additional dishes that were not on the menu 😍😍

A place of enjoyment in the middle of the Thuringian Forest. Without waffling big. A really great little restaurant. Stylish but neither too simple nor too overloaded. Polite, nice and well advising staff who make it easy to enjoy. The menu is short and yet offers enough choice without getting lost. The food is exceptionally good. Only the personal taste may find something here and there, but that does not spoil the overall impression. I will definitely eat there again.
